Chlorhexidine is effective against a wide range of Gram-positive and negative vegetative bacteria, yeasts, dermatophyte fungi and lipophilic viruses.
Chlorhexidine gluconate 0.5% w/v in Ethanol has been shown to be effective for up to 6 hours.
The Chlorhexidine / Ethanol skin antiseptic is toxic to bacteria by dehydrating the cell. It is a broad spectrum antibacterial and antiviral agent.
The Chlorhexidine / Ethanol skin antiseptic absorbed through cell wall obstructing its permeability. It interferes with the physiological activity of the cell leading to it’s destruction.
Chlorhexidine Gluconate provides residual and cumulative protection against microbials.
Ideal when water is not available or contaminated.
